Flu Vaccine 2024

The Flu Vaccine for 2024 is now available at Criniti Medical Practice.

Flu vaccine is free (government-funded) for the following people:

  • all adults aged ≥65 years
  • children aged 6 months to under 5 years
  • pregnant women (during any stage of pregnancy)
  • people who are immunocompromised
  • people with serious health conditions (including severe asthma, diabetes, cancer, immune disorders, obesity, kidney, heart, lung or liver disease)
  • all Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people aged ≥6 months
 

We also have private flu vaccine stock available for people who are not eligible for the free flu vaccine. Private Flu shots will cost $20, which is payable on the day of your appointment.

Can I get the Flu Shot when i come for a normal appointment?

Yes, if you are coming in to see a doctor for a normal appointment, you can also get your flu shot while you are here! Just talk to reception staff or your doctor to make arrangements on the day.

Can I get the COVID booster at the same time?

Yes, you can get both the flu vaccine and covid vaccine on the same day. Please let your doctor, nurse or reception know if you would like to have both together.

Note: to be eligible for COVID booster, it must be a minimum of 6 months since your last COVID vaccine dose, or six months after your last COVID19 infection.

After Your Vaccination

After receiving any vaccine, you may experience minor side effects. Most side effects are mild and last no more than a few days.

Common reactions to flu vaccinations include:

  • a sore arm
  • headache
  • low level fever
  • muscle pain
  • chills
  • tiredness, or
  • joint pain
